Description
Simple bone cysts (SBCs), also known as unicameral bone cysts, are the commonest bone lesions in children. SBCs can cause enormous family anxiety, limit patient’s physical activity, result in limb length discrepancy, recurrent fracture and can dramatically affect the entire childhood. Due to the lack of a clear pathoetiology, the treatment of SBCs in children varies amongst orthopaedic surgeons. While many forms of treatment have been recommended, a great deal of variation exists and none have reliably eradicated the cyst.

This randomized trial will assess the effectiveness of curettage with puncture versus curettage with puncture with injection of Vitoss morsels. Outcomes will analyze the rate of radiographic healing, identify prognostic radiographic factors associated with SBC healing and fracture; and determine the impact of SBC on children/family functioning.
