Determinants of Function and Clinically Important Outcomes in Proximal Humerus Fractures (DECIPHER)

Eligibility

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patient aged 50 years or older
  • Isolated proximal humerus fracture confirmed by radiographs
  • Acute fracture, within 14 days of injury
  • Provision of informed consent

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Vascular injury or pathologic fracture
  • Previous proximal humerus fracture, or retained hardware from a previous shoulder surgery
  • Inability to provide informed consent
  • Inability to speak/understand or read English/French without a registered interpreter
  • Likely problems, in the opinion of the investigator, with completing study follow up

Description

The proposed project will be a multi-centre, prospective observational study to determine the prognosis and determinants of functional outcomes of patients with proximal humerus fractures.
